  3. How do I set up my e-mail software to send/receive e-mail?
  4. Please follow this link for information on how to set up your e-mail software.

  5. What is this anti-virus and spam filtering service?
  6. As a service to our customers, all incoming e-mail is scanned by an automated system. Any attachments are inspected for harmful content (such as viruses, worms, trojan horses) and if found, are quarantined in the server message center. E-mail processed to remove any junk e-mails that will do nothing but clutter your inbox. Both of these functions are performed before the mail even reaches your account, saving you hassle and download time.

Both functions can be turned off by you, and filter settings can be customized to be more agressive or more lienient.

You may also be experiencing connection problems. You may attempt starting another application such as a web browser to ensure your connection is working.

  11. What is this "Webmail" thing?
  12. Webmail is a service provided by CWIS Internet that allows you to access your e-mail by using a web browser. The biggest advantage to this is that you can use it to check your mail while at another computer or traveling.

  13. My mail seems to hang while downloading, what happened?
  14. The biggest culprit is somebody sending a large file attachment to you. These present a problem when using a modem connection because large files take time to transfer (about 6 minutes per megabyte on a 28.8k modem). It could take anywhere from a minute or 30 minutes depending on the size of the attachment.

You may also use Webmail to examine your mail on the server, to locate any large attachments and decide if they are worth the time to download or simply delete them.

Another option is to contact our technical support staff so we can look into the problem. We can open your mailbox and delete/move any large e-mails that are hindering normal mail delivery.

  15. Are there any limits on sending e-mail?

  16. Yes. We impose a size limit of 3 MB (megabytes) per message when you send a message to somebody, and when somebody send a message to you.

We also forbid the sending of bulk, unsolicitied e-mail through our systems. We may consider it a violation of our terms of service and lock your account to investigate.
